My name is James Potts, and I’m a Residential Real Estate Specialist with KW Associates. Real estate has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid, I found myself drawn to homes — not just how they looked, but how they worked, how they flowed, and how they made people feel. That early fascination with architecture and design eventually grew into a lifelong passion, and today, it’s the foundation of the work I do every day.
Before real estate, my educational path took me through two worlds that now shape my entire approach: finance and interior architecture. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Insurance and Finance, which gave me a clear understanding of risk, investment, contracts, and the financial strategies that drive smart decision-making in real estate. Later, I pursued my master’s degree in Interior Architecture, where I learned to look at space with intention — how design influences value, how layout affects lifestyle, and how even small changes can transform the way a home feels.

Blending these two backgrounds has allowed me to serve clients with a perspective that is both analytical and imaginative. When I walk into a home, I’m evaluating it from multiple angles at once: the financial trajectory, the market potential, the architecture, the natural light, the ways the space could be re-imagined, and the emotional experience it creates. This combination helps buyers see possibilities they may have overlooked, and it helps sellers present their homes so they stand out in a crowded market.

My approach to real estate is rooted in clarity, communication, and genuine care. I believe that buying or selling a home is never “just a transaction.” It’s a personal transition — a shift into a new chapter of someone’s life — and my role is to make that chapter feel exciting, informed, and supported. I take the time to listen closely, to understand what truly matters to my clients, and to create a plan that feels strategic yet comfortable.

Working with first-time buyers is one of my favorite parts of the job. I love the energy, the questions, the discovery — and I take pride in making the process approachable, educational, and empowering. I also work with growing families, couples ready to downsize, and individuals who want guidance in elevating their current home before selling. No matter the situation, my goal is to provide a seamless experience with a balance of precision, patience, and creativity.

When preparing a home for market, my design background really comes alive. I enjoy helping clients craft a visual strategy — deciding how to highlight the strongest features of a property, how to stage it effectively, and how to create emotional resonance for potential buyers. I believe that design, when used strategically, has the power to increase both perceived and actual value. And when paired with strong pricing analysis and market insight, that strategy leads to remarkable results.

Negotiation is another area where I bring both structure and finesse. I approach each offer with a clear understanding of market conditions, contract dynamics, and my clients’ needs. My goal is always to protect my clients’ best interests while creating a path that feels fair, transparent, and ultimately successful.

Outside of real estate, I’m constantly exploring ideas that spark creativity. I love discovering new architecture in the community, studying emerging design trends, and learning how spaces influence the way we live and feel. I also enjoy connecting with people — hearing their stories, understanding their visions, and finding ways to help bring those visions to life.

At the end of the day, I’m driven by a simple belief: a home should reflect possibility. Whether that means helping someone find the perfect home, re-imagine a space, or successfully move into a new stage of life, I’m here to guide the process with thoughtfulness and expertise.
